Program Overview
What is the IPATH Method?
Integral Postural Alignment Therapeutics, known as IPATH , is a whole-body evolution of knowledge and action. The IPATH Method developed by Denese Cavanaugh, is a restorative yoga program fostered on musculoskeletal and myofascial therapeutic techniques, used to correct posture, relieve pain, and restore resilience for wellbeing. IPATH is a unique approach intended to balance the nervous system, reeducate inhibited posture reflexes, helping clients experience well-being and work with the underlying causes of pain, physical challenges, and mental health.
The 75 hour IPATH restorative yoga teacher training program is a hybrid continuing education program designed to complement and deepen your current practice with IPATH restorative yoga therapeutics sequences. The training program is composed of 4 modules totaling 75 hours over 6 weeks. Using yoga tools, an array of props, and gravity, along with interoception and proprioception as core elements in this therapeutic approach to healing. Each module progressively builds upon competencies learned in each module, creating safe, and effective sequences in preparation for Module 4 case studies and practicum. Upon completion of the program certified teachers will have earned 40 contact and 35 non contact continuing education credits. Teachers will be prepared to integrate IPATH restorative techniques in group classes and private sessions.
Module 1
In studio or Livestream
16- 18 hours
Overview
Module 1 provides an introduction of Integral Postural Alignment Therapeutics and its benefits. You will learn the history and background of this practice. Discover why the body is the therapist, by using the body as the starting point to achieve healing. Using therapeutic approaches to cultivate an awareness of potential immobility, imbalances and restrictions that may arise using five integral poses and sequences.
By the end of Module 1 trainees will be able to:

-
Describe the history and background of the practice
-
Demonstrate appropriate props for each pose setup in the IPATH primary sequence for a variety of human variations and body types
-
Describe the therapeutic purpose of each IPATH pose/sequence
-
Effectively demonstrate a decompression technique using the IPATH decompression ball.
-
Using a postural assessment, describe potential musculoskeletal challenges
-
Demonstrate evaluation skills for assessing imbalances through the lens of the kosha model
-
Compare and contrast the unique methodology of restorative vs dynamic yoga
Module 2
22-25 Online self study hours
Overview
Module 2 focuses on the subtle body ,as an energetic path of the physical body that reflects its form and function in the subtle realm. You will use breathwork to identify common musculoskeletal imbalances that lead to pain. Discover how bodily sensations show up using release, mobility, stability, length, strength and integration and effectively create a basic plan of care for groups and one on one sessions. The nervous system learns a new way of organizing movement that is more functional, safe, and connected. These pathways will be integrated into everyday activities when practiced over time.
By the end of Module 2, trainees will be able to:

-
Effectively assess anatomical breathing using prana vs. apana sequences
-
Cultivate awareness by effectively applying energetic sequences of releases for each IPATH pose
-
Assess common musculoskeletal imbalances that lead to pain and dysfunction
-
Label potential musculoskeletal challenges based on visible fascial restriction when practicing the IPATH poses
-
Use Vitruvian philosophy to identify asymmetrical imbalances in the body.
-
Effectively demonstrate tests and assessments to determine potential musculoskeletal dysfunctions
-
Develop a rudimentary plan of care to address particular areas of concern
-
Effectively describe how breathwork can be utilized to manage the central nervous system
By the end of Module 3 trainees will be able to:

-
Use the manomaya kosha model to describe why pain can be emotional
-
Effectively demonstrate three decompression techniques using the IPATH decompression ball.
-
Effectively Interpret and modify IPATH sequences for all levels in a group class
-
Use clear verbal cues to troubleshoot musculoskeletal challenges for various populations
-
Write a comprehensive three week one on one plan of care that addresses individual client pathology
-
Teach and properly implement Somatic Sequences for an optimal client experience
-
Trainees will present therapeutic language that helps empower clients with their ability to self regulate off the mat
-
Skillfully plan (2) 30 minute IPATH group class for all levels
Module 3
livestream 18 hr weekend
Overview
Mocule 3 Sequencing Integral Postural Alignment Therapeutics- Body Mapping for Well-Being
Postural language contains a wealth of psycho emotional information that we can use effectively to relieve tension, pain and imbalances. Building on what was learned in Mod 1 and 2, You will learn to integrate psycho- emotional awareness into class planning. You will be able to use this lens to adapt into the class environment in response to in the moment feedback to create an optimal experience for class planning. By building on class planning skills, you will learn decompression techniques to further support the student/client experience of postural awareness, Creating a comprehensive plan of care based on body feedback and individual client pathology is essential to evaluate the effectiveness of the practice.

By the end of Module 4 trainees will be able to:

-
Effectively assess 1 one on one client results to identify their potential imbalances, strengths and weaknesses based on the IPATH standards
-
Provide 3 ( 2 group, 1 private ) case studies to effectively evaluate musculoskeletal imbalances and dysfunction with an assessment and provide solutions using IPATH sequences and poses
-
Effectively create and submit (2) IPATH pose/sequences based on strength, joint freedom, and scapular weakness.
-
Submit a private case study for a private one on one session based on individual pathology
Module 4
15-20 hour case studies -
application of techniques
-Practicum-
Overview
Bringing it all together to heal!
In Module 4 You will be able to create detailed IPATH sequences with intention, revealing key components of release, mobility, stabilization, lengthening, and strengthening for a one on one client, and an all levels class. Your case study is an essential part of evaluating the effectiveness of each key component in this practice. All recorded IPATH poses/sequences shall be submitted no more than 20 days after successfully passing the Module 3 aptitude test. Your submitted case studies will be evaluated by an IPATH mentor. The presentations shall be video segments of each IPATH pose, transition, and sequence relevant to this practice for certification.
